Beanies for Balad 

Sage Books began Beanies for Balad in 2006, shipping small plush toys and other donations for the children of Iraq and Afghanistan in care of our military at Balad AFB in Iraq.  By the campaign's end in December, 2010, we shipped over 7 tons of donations to the children of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kosovo and to our troops stationed in these places. We are no longer shipping items, but you can contact the originator of this movement www.beaniesforbaghdad.com for direct military addresses for you to use.  View pictures below of the children receiving our gifts:

Left: Brownie Troop 185, Westfield, Massachusetts donated their Beanies to the kids of Iraq. 
   Right: Annie Broda, high school student, volunteered her time to help push the packages out.

Beanie Captains did a great job bringing us toys for the kids and items for the troops. Their kindness and spirit made everything worthwhile.
